Description
Lovely set of old tataki arrived in poor conditions due to being badly stored. I have tried to sympathetically restore them without going too far. I have cleaned them, removed the rust, flattened the backs and reset the bevels where necessary. They have been sharpened to 1200 grit, just polishing needed. There are some spots of putting here and there but nothing which will affect use. The steel feel good on the stones and well forged. The maker is Fujikara Mannosuke (Masahiko), Tokyo maker no longer trading. Beautiful red oak handles, carbon steel cutting edge forge welded to very soft old iron, a pleasure to sharpen. Overall a lovely set of quality tools, not perfect esthetically, but a lovely set of users nevertheless.
12, 15, 17, 24, 30, 36 and 37mm longer tataki around 280mm long approximately and an 18mm oire nomi 205mm long all included in the set
