Pair of usu nomi by Kiyotada

Description

Lovely old pair of used paring chisels, hiramachi kaku-uchi made by Kosaburo Shimamura known as Kiyotada. Probably the best blacksmith Japan has ever seen, his tools are rare and very expensive. These a very well used pair, 15 and 18mm blades approximately 230mm long. the conditions are very good with no major rust or putting. The handles are firm without splits. The blades are short without ura. I could have had them reground but I believe it would have taken the history out of the chisels and they are still perfectly usable
