Description
Used partially restored Japanese hand plane. Old tool which arrived with a skewed bevel. I’ve cleaned, straightened and reset the bevel and quickly cleaned up the chip breaker. The main blade needed uradashi after the bevel was straightened and the ura is now lovely and thin as it should be. I have not touched the dai as it will move with a change of environment. It has been hit hard in the past to get the blade out but it’s sound and has no splits. The mouth has been tightened with an wooden insert but still around 1mm wide. I have taken a couple of shavings to try and although still in need of final set up it still pulls nicely leaving already a decent finish on softwood. Overall a lovely old tool. Blacksmith and steel unknown
