Description
Used fully restored 48mm, 292mm long atsu nomi made by Watanabe Kiyoe (Kiyohisa). It arrived in terrible conditions and I’ve spent a considerable amount of time cleaning it from rust and dirt, flattening the back and reset the bevel to 25°. What you see is not a secondary bevel but the new primary bevel! I never go all the way on regrinding the bevel as it would be a waste of perfectly good metal. The bevel will return to be fully reshaped with use. A great and rare tool which deserves to be used and looked after as Kiyohisa is no longer forging himself. His tools have a balance and a finish very few other blacksmiths have bettered or equaled. His white steel has a fine and resilient edge yet very easy to maintain. One of the greatest! Not perfect, but that means more affordable.
